I followed my own advice on the hands in this image.

This is what they looked like before:

Yeeg!

I tried redrawing the fingers dozens of times until - d'oh! - I remembered to just draw the outline of the hand to get the shape right, and then add the lines for the fingers.

Even then, I redrew the lines for the fingers themselves many, many more times - nudging, scraping, stretching, deleting, cursing.

Now, these aren't Jack Davis, Mort Drucker hands, but at least the proportions are not uncomfortable to look at.
