Artist, mad cyclist, technology guy.
A life-long resident of the Southwest, Mike Martinet has lived in California, Nevada, and Arizona. Desert sunlight, comic book graphics, and current culture have inspired much of his art. He expresses these distinct genres using acrylics, watercolors and vector graphic applications.
His comic-style art works well on T-shirts, greeting cards and coffee mugs. His representational art is great for those who love architecture, machinery, graphic design, shadow effects, and sometimes a touch of humor.
Mike is a home-based web developer in Village of Oak Creek, and works evenings in his art studio at the Sedona Arts Center.
"Years ago during business meetings and conference calls I would decorate my notes with small, random images, most of which resembled robotic creatures. I began to turn these ballpoint scribbles into individual digital, then vector graphics. Eventually, I created Botaday.com (est. 2005) to house these images, and share them with like-minded nut cases. Botaday is short for 'A Robot A Day'. I have categorized the individual images as 'Art Humor' or 'Glyphbots', some of which I am now turning into acrylic paintings.
"My representational art is created from vector graphics of photos that I take or find interesting. My themes are mostly architecture, automobiles, and people, with an emphasis on color combinations, balance, texture and shadow effects. Many of these images can be found on BarrMartDesigns"
